UPDATE ON THE TIKTOK SCHOOL "THREAT" FOR FRIDAY DEC 17: MWS has been actively monitoring the recent information trending on TikTok alleging that there will be "school shootings and bomb threats for every school in the USA even elementary" on 17 December 2021. Multiple states have reported receiving similar threats; however, no credible information pertaining to the threats has been located at this time. MWS has received multiple bulletins from law enforcement and fusion center partners that have made similar assessments related to the credibility of this broad threat to schools. A screenshot of one of the example threats can be seen with this post. The information has been observed on other social media platforms and is expected to continue to spread as local and national media agencies nationwide cover the story. In addition, while law enforcement does not believe this to be a credible, or specific threat, it should be noted that such calls to violence or social media threats, could spur individuals to action, and copycat attacks related to the recent school shooting in Michigan cannot be ruled out.
