Lowell MA: Today at approximately 11:00 a.m. police responded to the area of 110 Canal Street in Lowell for the report of a body in the canal. The body had been noticed by a pedestrian in the area who notified a Trial Court Officer at the Lowell District Court which is located across the street. That Court Officer contacted authorities, including the Lowell Fire Department, who were able to remove the body from the water. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death and make a positive identification. The preliminary investigation did not reveal any obvious signs of trauma. This is an open and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and Lowell Police.
