This year on Autism Awareness Day, I challenge local police and fire departments to direct their support and branding away from organizations like Autism Speaks. The puzzle piece and representations of Autism Speaks are offensive to the majority of the Autistic community. They are not puzzle pieces. There is nothing to be solved and nothing is missing. We shouldn't strive to cure Autism, but rather we should strive to ACCEPT Autism. There is nothing wrong with neurodiversity. Thank you to my friend Amanda O for this insightful information.
