DRACUT — Chief Peter Bartlett reports that the Dracut Police Department charged a Dracut man with animal cruelty in connection with an incident that led to the death of a pet dog. ANTHONY SEGNINI, AGE 36, OF DRACUT, was arrested and charged with: Animal Cruelty On Monday, Dec. 11, 2023, Dracut Police were dispatched to a home on Sunset Road for a report of possible animal cruelty. A resident returned home from work to find her 8-pound Yorkshire Terrier, Seamus unresponsive and covered in blood and feces. The resident took the dog to Wignall Animal Hospital, where it was pronounced dead. Message from Chelmsford High School today: It was reported this morning that a threat of future harm to our school was written on a student bathroom wall. As I stated in my correspondence yesterday, we take each threat seriously. Upon receiving this information, our school administration, supervisors of students, and school resource officer began investigating this threat to determine its origins. The investigation is ongoing; however, since there was no immediate threat to our school community, our students remained on their current class schedule, and it was business as usual. At the end of the school day, I made an announcement to our school community to inform them about the situation, that we were taking steps to investigate the incident, and how they could help by contacting an adult in the building if they have any information. I also reminded the school community about the importance of safety and security and commended the students who came forward quickly to alert our administration of this future threat. When speaking with your children, I ask that you please support our “See Something, Say Something” message to help us in keeping Chelmsford High School safe for all. We have not found evidence that lends any validity to the threat. You may have noticed a police presence at the school drop-off this morning. We partner closely with the Chelmsford Police Department to keep our schools safe, and you will also notice an increase in police presence at our school next week, similar to how they supported us today with that presence. We appreciate and are grateful for the partnership with the Chelmsford Police Department to keep out school community safe. Sincerely, Stephen Murray Principal

Chelmsford MA: Chief Colin Spence reports that the Chelmsford Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash Saturday that resulted in an individual being summonsed. On Saturday, Sept. 7, at about 10:48 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection at Stedman Street and Waverly Avenue for reports of a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, officers observed a gray Chevrolet Traverse and a gray Lincoln MKZ that appeared to have been in a collision. Both vehicles were significantly damaged. The two passengers of the Lincoln MKZ were able to exit the vehicle on their own. The two passengers of the Chevrolet Traverse had to be freed from the vehicle by the Chelmsford Fire Department. Responding officers provided medical attention on site while waiting for the Fire Department to arrive. All four people involved in the crash were transported to area hospitals for treatment of injuries. A preliminary investigation revealed that the Lincoln MKZ had been allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed when it crossed over the double yellow lines and crashed into the Chevrolet Traverse head-on. Through further investigation, it was determined that the passengers of the Lincoln MKZ were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. It was also determined that the driver of the Lincoln MKZ was operating under the influence. The driver of the gray Lincoln MKZ, a 35-YEAR-OLD MAN of LOWELL is being summonsed to Lowell District Court and charged with: - OUI-Liquor (Resulting in Serious Injury and Negligent Operation) (Three Counts) - Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle - Speed Greater than Reasonable - Marked Lane Violation - Failure to Inspect Motor Vehicle - Failure to Wear Seatbelt The crash remains under investigation by the Chelmsford Police Crash Reconstruction Team and the Bureau of Investigative Services. “I would like to commend the diligent investigative efforts by Sergeant Fernald, Sergeant Brady, Officer Lucas and Detective Meehan,” said Chief Spence. “These investigators dedicated many hours into conducting a thorough investigation, which allowed for those responsible for the crash to be held accountable.” Chelmsford Police urges anyone with further information about this incident to contact Sergeant Shawn Brady at (978) 256-2521 ext. 275. These are allegations. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
