Miranda Warning System: Chelmsford Police Department and NEMLEC Assist in Locating and Aiding Man in Crisis Chelmsford, MA – On August 15, 2024, the Chelmsford Police Department, with critical support from the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC), successfully located and assisted a man in distress following a coordinated search effort. The Chelmsford Police Department responded to a report of a missing man who had not been seen or heard from in several hours, prompting growing concerns from his family. During the investigation, it was determined that the individual was likely experiencing a mental health crisis and could be in a heavily wooded area. Given the circumstances, the Chelmsford Police activated NEMLEC’s K9 Unit, to assist in the search. After a short but focused operation, the man was located by Billerica Police Officers Koles and Magliozzi, along with their K9 partners. The individual was promptly assessed on scene by PrideStar/Trinity EMS and transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and care. Deputy Chief Hannagan expressed his gratitude for the quick and coordinated efforts: “We are thankful for the collaboration between our officers, NEMLEC, and our public safety partners.
