Chelmsford Designated as a "RED" Community: The Town of Chelmsford has been designated as a "red" community by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) as of yesterday October 7, 2020 The Board of Health is following all MDPH guidelines as far as case investigation of confirmed COVID cases as well as follow up of designated close contacts. We want to inform the community that Chelmsford's "red" designation is not an indication of any significant increases in the schools or other community wide spread of COVID 19 and is more likely due to a cluster occurring at a Long Term Care Facility The chart is updated weekly on Wednesdays by MDPH and it shows all cases in each Community since January 1, 2020 and then breaks it down into different categories. The numbers shown are over a 14 day period. Please note that the number of cases is based on "per 100,000 population". If a town has between 4-8 cases per 100,000 population over a two-week period, then they are considered yellow, less than 4 cases per 100,000 in the same time frame would be green; over 8 cases per 100,000 population in a two-week period would be red.
