UPDATE ON THE TIKTOK SCHOOL "THREAT" FOR FRIDAY DEC 17: MWS has been actively monitoring the recent information trending on TikTok alleging that there will be "school shootings and bomb threats for every school in the USA even elementary" on 17 December 2021. Multiple states have reported receiving similar threats; however, no credible information pertaining to the threats has been located at this time. MWS has received multiple bulletins from law enforcement and fusion center partners that have made similar assessments related to the credibility of this broad threat to schools. A screenshot of one of the example threats can be seen with this post. The information has been observed on other social media platforms and is expected to continue to spread as local and national media agencies nationwide cover the story. In addition, while law enforcement does not believe this to be a credible, or specific threat, it should be noted that such calls to violence or social media threats, could spur individuals to action, and copycat attacks related to the recent school shooting in Michigan cannot be ruled out. December 3, 1999: The Worcester Cold Storage and Warehouse Co. fire began on December 3, 1999, in a 93-year-old abandoned building at 266 Franklin Street, Worcester, Massachusetts. The fire was started accidentally some time between 4:30–5:45 pm by two homeless people (Thomas Levesque and Julie Ann Barnes) who were squatting in the building and had knocked over a candle. hey left the scene without reporting the fire. The 6-story building, previously used as a meat cold storage facility, had no windows above the ground floor and no fire detection or suppression systems. The fire, which started on the second story, burned undetected for 30–90 minutes. Six Worcester firefighters lost their lives that day.

PSA: 3G PHONE SUPPORT BEING PHASED OUT IN 2022 The Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS) is supporting efforts by carriers and the federal government to raise awareness about plans by major cellular providers to phase out 3G coverage beginning in carly 2022. EOPSS urges Massachusetts residents and businesses who rely on older technology to plan for the potential loss of cell and data functions, specifically 91l service availability. Mobile cariers are retiring 3G technology to add bandwidth for faster and more reliable network services, such as 5G. The decommissioning effort is underway, and 3G coverage is already being phased out as the final sunset dates approach. Ifa mobile phone is more than several years old (e.g., older than an iPhone 6 or Samsung Galaxy S4), the phone may require an upgrade before mobile carriers climinates 3G technology. For older phones and devices, the loss of 3G coverage will impact call and data service, including the ability to contact 911. These plans to phase out 3G coverage result from a decision made solely by the major cellular providers. The FCCurges consumers with phones older than the iPhone 6 or Samsung Galaxy S4 to contact their local mobile carrieror visit their carrier's website to determinc if a ncw device or software upgrade is necessary. The FCC has also provided information about resources to assist cligible consumers with phone upgrades and other internet connectivity costs. Recently, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) issued an alert to consumers, detailing the various timelines provided by mobile carriers to complete the shutdown: AT&T will retire 3G service in February 2022. TMobile Sprint will finalize 3G shutdown on March 31, 2022. Verizon will sunset 3G by the end of 2022. According to the FCC, the transition will also impact many other industries and technologies. A failure to upgrade technology in advance of the shutdown may affect home and commercial security systems, monitored fire alarms, personal emergency alert devices, and vehicle SOS systems, among other advanced technologies.
