DUNSTABLE — Chief Erik Hoar reports that the Dunstable Police Department responded to reports of a barricaded suspect this afternoon. On Wednesday, Jan. 31, at approximately 12 p.m., Dunstable Police were called to a home on Main Street for reports of an individual who was experiencing a behavioral health crisis and had barricaded themselves in their home. Dunstable Police requested assistance from the Northern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) to negotiate with the individual. Officers entered the home and located the individual. Through negotiations and successful de-escalation attempts, the individual was safely removed and transported to a local hospital for evaluation. No one was injured. “I would like to commend the work of our officers, with assistance from NEMLEC, for their professionalism during this incident,” said Chief Hoar. “This was a case where our ongoing training assisted us in de-escalating the situation and having positive outcome.” More info: https://ift.tt/4q3A9OS

UPDATE ON YESTERDAY'S FATAL CRASH: DRACUT — Police Chief Peter Bartlett, Fire Chief Richard Patterson, and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office report that the Dracut Police and Fire Departments responded on Saturday night to a fatal crash on Merrimack Avenue (Route 110). On Saturday, Jan. 20, at approximately 9 p.m., the Dracut Police and Fire Departments were called to the area of 1020 Merrimack Avenue (Route 110) for a report of a crash. First responders arrived to discover a four-vehicle crash, with multiple serious injuries. One individual was declared dead at the scene. First responders treated and transported eight other people to local hospitals. Merrimack Avenue was closed in the area for several hours. The crash is under investigation by the Dracut Police Department, with assistance from the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
