METHUEN — Chief Scott McNamara reports that the Methuen Police Department has charged a local woman with animal cruelty. On Jan. 2, Methuen Police were notified by the Brentwood, N.H., Police Department of a video circulating online depicting apparent animal cruelty in Methuen. A preliminary investigation identified the woman as MADDISON EASTMAN, 26, ofMETHUEN, who owns a dog training and kennel facility in Brentwood, N.H. Methuen Police obtained an arrest warrant for EASTMAN on two counts of animal cruelty. EASTMAN turned herself in at Lawrence District Court on Jan. 7 and was arraigned on Jan. 9. Methuen Police will have no further comment at this time and refer all media inquiries to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.

WILMINGTON — Chief Brian Pupa reports that the Wilmington Police Department arrested and charged a Dracut man with larceny following an investigation into a social media scam. KEANU ASHTAR-ZADEH, AGE 21 of DRACUT, was arrested and charged with: Attempt to Commit Felony Crime of Larceny over $1,200. Intimidation of a Witness/Official Larceny over $1,200 by False Pretense Identity Fraud On Dec. 20, Wilmington Police received a report from an individual who believed they were the subject of a scam. The victim reported that he had reached out to someone on Facebook Marketplace, an online buying and selling platform, regarding an authentic gold bar for sale. The victim met with the suspect and paid them $4,150 for the bar. The victim brought the gold bar to have it inspected and learned that it was a fake. A preliminary investigation by Wilmington Police suggested the seller used a fake name. Wilmington Police arranged a meet-up with the seller, later determined to be ASHTAR-ZADEH. ASHTAR-ZADEH was arrested without incident. A search recovered two Florida IDs with other names. ASHTAR-ZADEH was arraigned in Woburn District Court on Friday. Wilmington Police would like to remind residents to be cautious when buying items online, especially from strangers. Wilmington Police welcomes residents to meet in the station lobby to conduct in-person transactions with unknown individuals. These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

LAWRENCE, Mass. – January 4, 2026 – Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker and Lawrence Chief of Police Maurice Aguiler have confirmed the death of two individuals found deceased in a Lawrence home on Saturday evening. On January 3rd, shortly after 9:00 p.m., officers from the Lawrence police department responded to an apartment at 582 Essex Street, a multi-unit dwelling in Lawrence for a well-being check. Upon arrival, officers located a 32-year-old male and 30-year-old female. Both individuals were deceased from gunshot wounds in an apparent murder-suicide. The preliminary investigation suggests that the two decedents had been involved in a long-term dating relationship. The identities of the two individuals will not be released pending next of kin notifications. The investigation remains active and ongoing by the Essex County District Attorney’s Office State Police Detective Unit, detectives from the Lawrence Police Department, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
