MWS update at October 23, 2022 at 10:56AM

Chelmsford MA: At approximately 11:45 PM yesterday Troopers from the State Police-Concord Barracks, along with Chelmsford Fire and Police, responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 495 North in Chelmsford. Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2018 Toyota C-HR was traveling in the right lane of the three-lane highway. Simultaneously, a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer was also northbound. For reasons under investigation, the two vehicles made contact, causing both vehicles to go off the roadway to the east. The Toyota C-HR went out of control, slid onto the soft shoulder of the road, and came to rest against a highway sign support. The Toyota operator was uninjured. The Chevrolet Trailblazer also left the roadway, slid and rolled across the soft shoulder and into the woods where it struck a tree and came to rest on its left side. The operator and sole occupant of the Trailblazer was partially ejected from the vehicle and was determined to be deceased on scene, he has been identified as Darren Chinn, 59, of Derry, N.H. The crash remains under investigation by Troop A of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
